Health and prevention
It is a frightening number: 1 billion people worldwide do not have the chance to participate in an adequate health system. Disadvantaged population groups are particularly affected, including a high proportion of children and women.
The lack of access to clean drinking water and toilets aggravates the problem. The situation is especially challenging in rural area.
WHEN ACCESS TO HEALTH IS LACKING
Healthcare costs money. Money that many countries cannot provide. Staff shortages for treatment are added as a further problem.
There is a lack of regional provision, especially for disadvantaged population groups. If health systems are available, they are mostly in larger cities; they remain difficult to reach for people in rural areas.
