Education and future
From birth, 263 million children worldwide are worse off than children born in Western countries. Access to educational opportunities
is denied to them. Girls are hit especially hard.
Reasons for this are war, hunger and bad environmental impacts. Factors that make people flee. They risk their own life
and that of their children in search of peace and a good future with work and education.
WHEN EDUCATION IS MISSING
Children, who do not have access to educational opportunities, lack personal development opportunities. The reason for this can often be found in inequalities such as gender or health and cultural background.
The risk for children of not receiving school education increases with poverty and illiteracy of parents.
If children grow up in a disadvantaged environment, the rate of undernourished families increases. This results in an increase in child labour. They do not have time and money for education. The cycle, in which these children and families find themselves, thus remains unbroken.
